CANNON TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- An open house was held in Rockford Wednesday for the public to learn more about proposed construction on a busy Kent County road.

Two projects are being talked about for sections of M-44. One will rebuild M-44 between Wolverine Blvd and Blakely Ave. The second will widen M-44 from Blakely Ave. to Myers Lake accommodate a center left turn lane.

Safety is a big reason for the proposed construction, says Jean Kuehle with the Lake Bella Vista Board of Directors.  Grading and flattening M-44 near Courtland Drive is expected to increase visibility for drivers.

This project is currently scheduled for June-October 2017.
