GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Unless you actually bump into him at Founders or sit next to him at a Griffins game, you might want to take a recent report that actor Jim Carrey has moved to Grand Rapids…with a grain of salt. And then throw that grain of salt over your right shoulder.

The website KNP 7 NEWS reported that the star of movies such as Dumb & Dumber, Ace Ventura, and many other iconic comedies, had moved to Grand Rapids.  The site even quoted Carrey as saying the following:

“I’m just tired of the L.A. lifestyle and the fake people, honestly, and I feel like, at this point in my life, I’d rather just live in a place full of real, genuine people. I’ve been to Grand Rapids a few times over the years and the people there are real… they’re genuine people, and yeah every community has its problems but the people there are good, decent people and they care about their community. Those are the things I find most important in deciding where to live.  I might be hanging out somewhere further south during the winter though!” Carrey said with a laugh.

There are hundreds of comments on the post, from people seemingly excited about Carrey coming to West Michigan.  However, you may want to remain skeptical for now.  Here’s what the site states in its ‘About Us’ section:
