MARSHALL, Mich. -- Two students at Marshall High School are in police custody after allegedly posting threats on social media, police and school officials say.

A concerned parent found pictures posted online that show two subjects posing with firearms, with a threatening message towards Marshall High School and students, according to the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office .  The parent notified the principal, who immediately contacted police.

This comes just days after other schools in the area were forced to close, including Lakeview School District in Battle Creek, following threats that were later discredited.

With the help of school staff members, police were able to identify the suspects and take them into custody without further incident.

The Calhoun County Major Crimes Task Force was activated due to the seriousness of the threats.

Charges are now pending for making a terrorist threat and using Internet/telecommunication to commit a crime.

As a precaution, Marshall Public Schools will be closed on Thursday, March 31.  The Shamrock Center will also be closed.

There is no on-going threat to the school system at this time.
