New crime scene photos released in Erik Cross cold case

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department on Thursday released new crime scene photos in the Erik Cross murder investigation.

Kalamazoo County Undersheriff Paul Matyas told Fox 17 Wednesday that the investigation into the 1983 death of Erik Cross has been turned over to the Prosecutor's Office for review. The decision to issue charges related to Cross's murder will be made by the Prosecutor's office.

Cross was 16 years old when he was found dead by his father outside his Vicksburg home in the summer of 1983.  Investigators have maintained a core group of at least 5 people with direct knowledge of what happened to Cross have maintained a code of silence for decades.
