LANSING, Mich. (AP) — More than two dozen delegates from Michigan are pledged to businessman Donald Trump at this summer’s Republican National Convention.

On Friday and Saturday, Michigan Republicans elected the state’s national delegates during the state’s GOP convention in Lansing. Those elected this weekend will later cast their vote at the national convention, which determines a GOP presidential nominee.

These party insiders can influence whether Trump, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz or Ohio Gov. John Kasich is nominated.

More national delegates chosen this weekend at the state convention are pledged to vote for Trump because he won the state primary.

Both Cruz and Kasich each received 17 delegates pledged to vote for them this summer.

If Trump doesn’t secure the 1,237 delegates required to win the nomination on the first ballot, delegates would then be able to support any candidate of their choosing, which could include Cruz or Kasich.
