GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A man who was allegedly caught spying on a woman in an H&M fitting room was sentenced to prison Tuesday.

Jeffrey Lafonta Green was sentenced in a Grand Rapids courtroom to a prison stay of “1 day to life,” according to court documents.

In a plea deal worked out with Kent County Prosecutors, Green’s charges stemming from the March 2015 H&M fitting room incident were dropped. In exchange, he agreed to plead guilty to one count of ‘Indecent Exposure by a Sexually Delinquent Person’ stemming from a June 2015 incident in Grandville.

Green’s attorney requested the judge recommend counseling for him while in prison, a request the judge agreed to. He was also ordered by the court to register on the Michigan sex offender registry.

Investigators say a woman was in a fitting room at H&M at the Tanger Outlet Mall in Byron Center on March 4 when she saw a cell phone being held over the wall. She yelled and employees confronted Green.  He reportedly denied doing anything wrong and left. The woman’s husband got Green’s license number and called police.

All charges stemming from that incident were dismissed in the plea agreement Green accepted.

According to court records, Green was sentenced in 1996 to 15-50 years in prison for Criminal Sexual Conduct, 1st degree.  He pleaded guilty to that crime and a ‘Felony Firearm’ charge.

After release from prison, Green was charged in 2014 for misdemeanor ‘Indecent Exposure’ charges. He pleaded no contest to that charge and was sentenced to jail for 12 months and probation.

Then, in 2015, he was arrested in Grandville again for allegedly exposing himself and masturbating in view of a woman in a Grandville parking lot.  It was a charge stemming from this incident for which Green was sentenced on Tuesday.
