BANGOR, Mich. — Hartford Public Schools issued a warning on its Facebook page on Tuesday of a possible human trafficking incident.
But Bangor Police Chief Tommy Simpson tells FOX 17 that reports about selling a girl into sex trafficking are completely inaccurate.
Chief Simpson says a woman reported on Monday a suspicious incident at the Autumn Wind apartment complex. She told police that a man approached her and her daughter and made “inappropriate comments” to them. Simpson says there was no attempted abduction.
Police located the man and interviewed him. He has not been arrested. The prosecutor’s office is reviewing the case to see if any crimes were committed.
Officials are using this incident to remind parents to talk to their children about strangers and being aware of their surroundings.
