GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Taquan Kendell McCray was sentenced in Grand Rapids Federal Court Wednesday related to a January 2015 armed robbery at Paul Medawar Fine Jewelry.

It is alleged in the case that McCray and four other suspects used sledgehammers to smash display cases and rob the Medawar jewelry store on Plainfield Avenue on Jan. 23, 2015.

McCray was sentenced Wednesday morning after agreeing to plead guilty to one count of ‘Interference with Commerce by Robbery.’  He was sentenced to  three years in prison and 3 years of supervised release.

Three of the robbers, Darnell Brown, Charles Fortune and Zack Cender  have already been sentenced to prison time ranging from a one-year sentence for Cender, and two-year sentences each for Brown and Fortune for their roles in the crime.
