COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. -- Two high schools - Comstock Park and Sparta High - rallied together to support the surviving teens of a fatal car crashin April.

A spaghetti dinner was held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Alpine Church Road Friday evening. A silent auction and 50/50 raffle were held to support the families of the five teens involved in the crash that killed 16-year-old Alyssa Eggerding.

Survivor Alyssa Naughton is going through rehabilitation at Mary Free Bed. She attended the benefit along with Kaitlin Keeler and Olivia Lawrence.

The driver of the vehicle - Armando Mendoza - is still healing. Comstock High student Marshall Kilgore said a nurse told him he's doing better than expected and continues to get better every day, however faces a long road to recovery.

Moving forward, organizer Tony Petkus said that he wants to push for more driver education on distracted and reckless driving for both young people and adults alike.

Organizers for the dinner say they have numerous thanks to give, but wanted to specifically mention Holy Trinity Church for hosting the event; the Olive Garden on 28th Street for donating the pasta; Applebee's for donating the salad; and all the community members who donated items for the silent auction.
