GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- A small fire in a classroom has caused the disruption of classes at a Grand Rapids public school building.

The fire was discovered just after noon in a classroom of the Ken-O-Sha Early Childhood Center at Campus by a teacher.  That teacher pulled the fire alarms which then led to the evacuation of that building, and Campus Elementary School and another building which is connected.

According to Grand Rapids Public Schools spokesman John Helmholdt, crews are ventilating the Early Childhood Center and afternoon classes at the center are cancelled.  Parents have already been contacted. The school will make a determination later today whether or not classes will be able to be held on Thursday.

Campus Elementary School is back in session this afternoon and will be open Thursday.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
