Teen bicyclist struck by truck at Allendale High School, hospitalized

ALLENDALE, Mich – A teenager from Allendale Township is listed in stable condition after deputies say he was hit by a truck while riding his bike this afternoon.

The crash happened along a service drive on the Allendale High School campus around 2:40 p.m.

Investigators say 17-year-old Christian DeVries was driving his 1992 Chevy pickup truck when he collided with 16-year-old bicyclist Benjamin Winford.  DeVries wasn’t injured in the collision.  Winford was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

The incident remains under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.
