KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The brother of a man who was shot and killed by police in a shootout was sentenced to two years in prison Monday.

Aaron Pelletier was sentenced for Fleeing Police and Felony Firearms charges.  He was earlier acquitted of a charge for Carrying a Concealed Weapon.

Aaron and Sean Pelletier led Portage Police on a chase last May after disobeying a traffic stop.  Police were trying to stop the Pelletiers on an outstanding warrant.  The brothers had an AK-47 and other firearms in their vehicle and engaged in a shootout with police after the chase.

Sean Pelletier was killed in the shootout and Aaron was wounded. Sisters of the Pelletiers, Amy and Michelle were also charged with obstructing police. Amy has been convicted but is not serving any more jail time.

Investigators found that police were justified in killing Sean and wounding Aaron in the shootout.
