ALGOMA TWP., Mich.-- A 25-year-old man from Rockford was killed late Wednesday night, when police say the 2001 Ford Mustang he was riding in turned into the path of an oncoming car.

It happened around 11:15 p.m. in Algoma Township. While attempting to head south on Northland Drive, investigators say the 22-year-old Mustang driver turned left off of M-57 in front of an eastbound 2008 Buick Enclave, driven by a man from Cedar Springs.

The passenger in the Mustang was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, and the driver was taken to the hospital.

Police tell FOX 17 that they believe alcohol played a role in the crash.

Names of the people involved have not yet been released, as they work to notify family members.
