ROCKFORD, Ill. – A beer battle between Rockford’s in the Midwest is over.

Rockford Brewing Company, of Rockford, Illinois, has changed its name to Prairie Street Brewing Company.

According to the Rockford (Ill.) Register Star newspaper, the Rockford Brewing Company in Illinois got into a branding dispute with Rockford Brewing Company of Rockford, Michigan in 2014.  The Illinois brewer even filed suit and the judge said that “the parties should sit down over a beer and resolve their disputes.”

The case was settled, but the Illinois brewer said there was still confusion amongst beer fans, so they are making the change.  The brewer opened recently in a building known as the Prairie Street Brewhouse, so the name change appears to be popular there.

Rockford Brewing of Michigan commended the change on Facebook and wished them success.
