Kalamazoo police searching for shooting suspect

KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. -- Police in Kalamazoo are still on the search for a suspect connected to a fatal shooting Monday night.

A tip led police to Coddington Lane near Kalamazoo around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety Chief Jeff Hadley confirmed with FOX 17 News that investigators were searching the area for an individual they believe to be tied to a shooting the night before. However, no suspect was found.

Niquay DeJuan Baker, 38, was pronounced dead at a hospital after being found by police with a gunshot wound. He was lying near the corner of Mabel Street and Westnedge Ave.

Two others were shot as well, and arrived at the hospital minutes after the shooting. They both suffered non-life threatening injuries are in stable condition.

The circumstances behind the shooting are under investigation.
