GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Harley-Davidson was giving rides Tuesday, but not to sell motorcycles, but to train law enforcement officers how to handle them the best on the job.

Even the most experienced motorcycle riders in the class had a hard time turning their bikes around in a small area.  Now, they say they are pros.

Many of the officers say they own their own motorcycles, but the training  was helpful and completely different from what they may do on their days off.

They've been learning nine different patterns in intensive training for the past week.  The patterns are specifically designed to save motorcycle officer's lives.

Officers from all around Michigan and other states attended the training, which took place out by Gerald R. Ford International Airport.

Officers that complete the training get a certificate and are then able to teach others in their departments.
