WYOMING, Mich. -- Wyoming Police say a 30-year-old woman was injured Wednesday afternoon during an armed home invasion.

The incident was reported at a home in the 2600 block of Cotherstone Drive SW at about 12:30 p.m., according to police.

FOX 17 News spoke with the woman who was assaulted. She says the male suspect told her that he was collecting donations for the Salvation Army, and he displayed a badge that suggested he was a representative of the non-profit.

Police say he entered her home when she went to get him a glass of water.  That's when the woman says the suspect assaulted and robbed and robbed her before he fled the area.

A neighbor who lives near the woman who was attacked says she saw the suspect scoping out the area.

“I saw him coming down the neighborhood, eyeballing a little bit. And he didn’t fit the weather. He was dressed very warmly and I had a woman’s intuition that something was not right.” According to the concerned neighbor.

The suspect is described as a black male in his mid-20s.  He is about 5 feet 8 inches tall with a medium build and short hair, police said in a release.   He was last seen wearing a long-sleeve red plaid flannel shirt and blue jeans.

The woman was taken to the hospital and treated for her injuries, police said in a release.
