LANSING, Mich. - The preliminary hearing for former Michigan representatives Todd Courser and Cindy Gamrat continued Thursday in Lansing.
A judge is deciding if there is enough evidence to send the two to trial for misconduct in office and other charges.
Three witnesses testified today, including the man who said that Courser asked him to send the false, lewd e-mail that Courser thought would squash rumors about his extramarital affair with Gamrat. He testified he was told to send 47,000 e-mails to people throughout the state, but he stopped at about 4,000 because he didn't feel right about it.
Courser and Gamrat are also accused of having staffers forge their signatures on legislative documents. House Clerk Gary Randall testified that it is a violation, but there was no one on his staff assigned to catch that type of violation.
More witnesses are still expected to testify next week.
