HOLLAND, Mich. — Firefighters managed to rescue a man and a family dog from a house fire late Sunday night, while the man’s teenage son was able to escape on his own.

The fire happened shortly before midnight at a home on East 22nd St. in Holland.  When firefighters arrived, police who were already on the scene told them someone was still in the basement.

The firefighters were able to enter through a window and pull the man out of the burning home.  He was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.  They were also able to find and rescue a dog.

The victim’s teenage son suffered minor injuries.

It is not clear what caused the fire.
