LAKETON TOWNSHIP, Mich, — A lawnmower is believed to be the cause of broken gas lines that forced the evacuations of 2 schools in the Reeths-Puffer school district on Monday.
Superintendent Steve Edwards told FOX 17 that students and staff from Central Elementary and Reeths-Puffer Middle School were evacuated to the soccer fields behind the elementary school.
Over 1,000 students were evacuated, but were able to return to class after the leak was repaired.
No injuries were reported.
