One person treated for smoke inhalation in morning fire

PORTAGE, Mich. — Fire crews made quick work of a fire in the 1400 block of W. Centre Avenue in Portage early Monday.

The fire was reported around 4:00 a.m. and was confined to an upstairs bedroom.

An occupant of the house was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation but was not hospitalized.

The Portage Department of Public Safety said crews took about 10 minutes to contain the fire.

The cause is being investigated.
