NEW YORK – If you are an NFL fan and follow the NFL on Twitter, you may have been getting some incorrect news this afternoon.

The @NFL Twitter account started tweeting out news of Commissioner Roger Goodell’s death at about 12:30pm.  It continued to do so even after NFL social media managers deleted the tweet.

ESPN’s Adam Shefter tweeted out shortly after that Goodell is alive and well and is working today.  And, of course, the internet is having fun.

And someone has already changed the Roger Goodell wiki entry to give him a cause of death.
