Woman’s body found along Kalamazoo County road, suspicious death investigation

SCHOOLCRAFT, Mich. — The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department says the body of a woman was found along a road in Schoolcraft Tuesday afternoon; they are investigating the death as “very suspicious.”

According to Kalamazoo County Undersheriff Paul Matyas, the woman’s body was found on S. 10th Street between W. S Avenue and U Avenue, along the shoulder of the road in an isolated area.

Sources close to the investigation believe this death could be a drug overdose.

The deceased woman is believed to be in her 30’s. ¬†She has not been identified, as authorities wait for an autopsy, though she is reported to be white or hispanic.

The woman appeared to be recently deceased and placed in that area. Her body had no obvious signs of trauma and was not hit by a car, according to the Undersheriff.
