Ingham County K-9 officer, Nicko, dies

INGHAM COUNTY, Mich. — On Friday, the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office announced the passing of one of their K-9 officers.

Nicko was 6-years-old German Shepard and a member of the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office for the past five years.

Officials said Nicko’s work included explosive protection and patrol work. Nicko’s partner, Chad Doyle, is an 8-year-veteran of the department and both were members of the Ingham Regional Response Team, according to a press release.

Sheriff Gene L. Wriggelsworth said that Nicko died on Thursday following complications from Colonic Torsion surgery.
