$20,000 raised for Gilda’s Club at first Football Addix All-Star Game

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich -- $20,000 was raised for Gilda's Club Friday night a the inaugural Football Addix All-Star Game.

The Stripes team built a 17-0 halftime lead and held on for a 17-9 win over the Stars.

Zeeland East wide receiver Khylin Barton was the games MVP as he caught 4 passes for 75 yards and a TD in the first quarter that gave the stripes a 10-0 lead.

"It was great, all these guys are great athletes to be out here with people exactly like you and just as good as you" Barton said, "it's really fun and to test their skill level with your skill level."

Unity Christian's Christian Bos ran 2 yard for a score and 17-0 halftime lead for the Stripes.

The Stars got on the board in the fourth quarter on a 58-yard td reception form East Kentwood's Bret Patton, he finished the game with 3 catches for 82 yards and a score.

The Stripes lost a snap out of the back of the end zone with less than five minutes left in the fourth quarter to make the score 17-9.

The Stars had it inside the Stripes 10 yard line with under two minutes to play but turned the ball over on downs when Wyoming's Chris Veenstra tackled Comstock Park's Pat Naughton short of a first down on 4th and 3.

"We came out after halftime a little lackadaisical having fun a little too loose made a few mistakes got on the sideline and corrected them, came out with the victory" Veenstra said.
