GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Kids’ Food Basket, the organization that provides sack suppers to West Michigan school children, say they have served over one million meals to kids for the 2015-2016 school year.

The group says they serve 7,500 kids at 39 schools in Grand Rapids, Muskegon and Holland each week day.  They have more than 240 volunteers help prepare, pack and deliver the sack suppers that provide an evening meal to kids.

“We are overcome with gratitude. One million meals served this school year means one million times local kids weren’t worried about when or if they would have dinner. That’s one million times kids weren’t stressed. One million times they could play and do their homework and just be kids,” Executive Director, Bridget Clark Whitney explained in a press release.

Kids’ Food Basket is hosting thank you events in each of the three communities, beginning Wednesday in Grand Rapids.  For more details, click here.
