PENTWATER TWP., Mich. – Need proof that a bicycle helmet could save your life? Having trouble convincing your child to wear one?

The Oceana County Sheriff’s Office released photos from a crash where a bicycle and car collided Tuesday morning on Business 31 and N. Lakeshore Drive in Pentwater Township. The crash report says the bicyclist, a 12-year-old boy, pulled out in front of the vehicle.

Pictures show that the cyclist was wearing a basic “shell-type” helmet that fractured from the impact of the crash. ┬áThe boy was injured, but Lt. Craig Mast says that the helmet saved him from at least serious injury and maybe death.
