PENTWATER TWP., Mich. – Need proof that a bicycle helmet could save your life? Having trouble convincing your child to wear one?

The Oceana County Sheriff’s Office released photos from a crash where a bicycle and car collided Tuesday morning on Business 31 and N. Lakeshore Drive in Pentwater Township. The crash report says the bicyclist, a 12-year-old boy, pulled out in front of the vehicle.

Pictures show that the cyclist was wearing a basic “shell-type” helmet that fractured from the impact of the crash.  The boy was injured, but Lt. Craig Mast says that the helmet saved him from at least serious injury and maybe death.
