June is Men's Health Month and Father's Day is on Sunday, and we want to keep the men in our life around for a very long time.

Prevention is the key, and just like women, men have busy lives and can often put others first along with their jobs and other activities they enjoy.

Dr. Diana Bitner, a nationally recognized specialist in women's health from Spectrum Health, says that just like we want the men in our lives to support us women with healthy eating and time for exercise, women can do the same for them.

The top concerns for men's health are cardiovascular disease, which includes heart attacks and strokes. Risk factors include family history, dietary habits, exercise habits, and cholesterol levels.

Other topics that are closely related to men's health are prostate, lung, and colorectal cancer, as well as erectile dysfunction.

Dr. Bitner says the most important thing you can do to stay healthy is to eat healthy, exercise daily, get lots of sleep, and drink lots of water. Regular check ups with a doctor is also a must!

Dr. Bitner is located at 3800 Lake Michigan Drive, Suite A. To make an appointment, call her at (616) 267-8225.
