GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — More than 400 people and about 200 dogs took part in Saturday's third annual K9K race.

The event was held in honor of Grand Rapids Police Department officer Andrew Elliott "Andy" Rusticus, a 29-year-old who died Feb. 25, 2012, from a heart attack while jogging.

Rusticus was training for an open K9 handler position with GRPD at the time.

The K9K took place at Riverside Park, located at 2001 Monroe Ave. NE in Grand Rapids.
