NEW BUFFALO TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Police say an 89-year-old Michigan City, Ind., man is dead following a crash in Berrien County.
It happened Friday afternoon around 3:40 p.m.
Officers say Bernard Lootens was pulling onto U.S. 12 from Yunge Road when a semi truck hit his vehicle. Lootens was trapped inside his car and had to be removed from it.
He was taken to the hospital where he died several hours later.
The driver of the semi truck wasn’t hurt.
Police don’t think alcohol is a factor but they will continue to investigate.
