KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Detectives with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety continue to press for the information they need to solve the murder of a young mother who was killed nearly 25 years ago.

It was November 13, 1991 when officers were called to 123 W. Dutton Street in Kalamazoo to find Annette Jones unresponsive.  She was rushed to the hospital, but didn't survive the injuries she'd sustained.

Detectives would later reveal the young mother of two boys was found bound and gagged, tied to a couch with a phone cord.  An autopsy would later determine she'd been strangled.

Detectives pursued the case once it was ruled a homicide, but the case eventually went cold.

On the 20 year anniversary of her murder in 2011, detectives announced a renewed push to solve the case.  FOX17 spoke with Jones' mother Freda Scott when that new push for answers was announced.

"We'll continue to do anything I can to find out what happened and why," said Scott in 2011.  "Why would someone do such a thing to such a nice young lady?  It doesn't make sense to me and I would like to get it solved so we can rest in peace."

Detectives said in 2011 an anonymous letter was sent to authorities involving the case, but it still remains unsolved.

Authorities believe they're close to solving this case, but needs the public's assistance with any additional information that is out there.

Anyone with information on this crime is urged to contact the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigation Division at 269-337-8139.
