BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – A portion of the Binder Park Zoo was closed Tuesday when an animal got out of its enclosure.

The new female waterbuck never left the perimeter of the zoo and posed no threats to any guests, according to zoo officials.  They say they closed the Wild Africa area to prevent trams and vehicles from scaring the animal.  The zoo exhibit was reopened just after 1:00pm after keepers tranquilized the animal.

The waterbuck is named Neva and Tuesday was her first day in the 18-acre exhibit according to the zoo.
