MSP releases complaint statistics for Electric Forest Festival

ROTHBURY, Mich. – Michigan State Police provided on-site law enforcement to the Electric Forest Festival in Rothbury  and has issued their final statistics for the weekend.

Promoters told MSP that there were approximately 50,000 tickets sold for the four day festival. During the time from June 23-26, there were:

  • 57 complaints investigated by MSP
  • 16 people were taken to the Oceana County Jail
  • 21 more people are pending arrest after review by the Oceana County Prosecutor

Police also say that there were:

  • 29 felony drug charges filed
  • 18 misdemeanor charges: seven for drug possession, five for assault, three for trespassing/disorderly conduct and three for being wanted on other charges.

Police say they also assisted on numerous medical calls.  One Lansing man, Michael John Stephenson, 22, suffered a “medical emergency” at about 9:30 a.m. Monday and died.

Michigan State Police say they have been providing services for the festival since 2011 and in the years 2008 and 2009.
