PORTAGE, Mich. — Victoria Enos said when she laughs too hard the scar on her stomach hurts. And she still can’t extend her left arm too much. When she tries, the wound on her elbow begins to throb. She was attacked early in the morning on May 5 and she still feels the pain … literally.

“I was just thinking maybe I should just go over to the jail and ask the kid what in the world was he thinking,” said Enos sitting in her living room during an interview with FOX 17. “Why did he think he had the right to come in my house and hurt me.”

Police said the suspect, identified as 19-year-old Brandon Luevano, stabbed Enos repeatedly in her left arm, torso and back.  Then, he ran out of the house through her back porch which is how he got in.

“Then I wrapped my pajamas, my foot pajamas over my arm trying to may a tourniquet cause the blood just kept coming,” said Enos. “I was like holding it until the first responders came.”

After that, Enos said her next memory was waking up in a hospital bed. Since then, Luevano was charged with four felonies including assault with intent to do great bodily harm. He's currently in jail. Enos has been recovering at home with family.

“When I talk I don’t have a tooth,” said Enos pointing at her mouth. “And sometimes I can’t talk right either because of it. I just start crying and stuff. My husband is like ‘Why are you crying? There’s gotta be a reason.’ And I'm like ‘Well, I'm just crying.”

Enos said she thinks about what happened all the time. At night, she sometimes has nightmares. She started seeing a therapist to deal with the emotional pain.  Her family has been very helpful though. Her three kids do extra chores around the house like washing the dishes and mowing the lawn.

“He ripped out the carpet in our bedroom ‘cause I had to look at the blood everyday,” said Enos about her husband's help. “My sister and my friend Sarah cleaned up most of the blood. They said the counter was thick with blood.”

Despite the pain, Enos acknowledged the brighter moments since then like going out on the boat with her family. She loves anytime she gets to spend with them. She said she’s grateful to be alive.

“I really am lucky that the first responders and the people in the hospital saved my life,” said Enos. “My daughter said she wouldn’t be able to handle it if she would’ve lost me.”
