WEST MICHIGAN — After a chilly start in the 40s and 50s across the FOX 17 viewing area, expect that strong, late June sunshine to warm things up nicely today with forecast highs around 80°. High pressure will slide right overhead, keeping the weather quiet with light west to northwest winds. This high will slide to the east of us tomorrow, allowing for more of a southwesterly flow which may warm temperatures slightly more.
In the meantime, a cold front that is currently in northern Canada will slide southward and into West Michigan by late Thursday night/early Friday morning. This front will bring a brief period (about an hour or two) of showers and thunderstorms to the area:
At this time, severe thunderstorms are not expected.
Behind this front, we expect cooler temperatures for Friday with highs in the 70s. If you’re a fan of the 80s, however, that type of warmth will return on Saturday and stay with us for the rest of the holiday weekend.
