Looking for some decorations to spruce up the house or the backyard when you have that outdoor party this weekend? Paper lanterns are an easy way to light up the yard, without spending a lot of money.

Materials:

  • Red, white, blue card stock paper, construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue, tape, stapler
  • Decorations

making-a-paper-lanternFold the card stock paper vertically in half, and cut multiple lines in the paper. Start at the fold of the paper, then cut a line until you reach about a half inch from the edge. Repeat this step, with each cut separated by about an inch.

Stick in a light source inside the lantern, not a flammable candle. Or if you don't have a light source, attach a string to the top of the lantern and hang it up.
