GRAND RAPIDS TWP., Mich. - Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park welcomed visitor #10,000,000 Thursday.

Kyle Newton and her family from Saranac walked through the doors for a visit at about 11:00am and were greeted by President and CEO David Hooker.  They received a gift basket with cookies, wine, coffee mugs and other gifts, including passes to an upcoming Summer Meijer Garden concert and another year of membership.

Newton's family was making a visit to the gardens today because her daughter had recently broken her leg and they wanted to get out and enjoy the summer day.  Newton is a member and knew that the facility has wheelchairs available for visitors.

Meijer Gardens opened in 1995 and set a record in 2015 for attendance with 776,928 visitors.  Hooker says that attendance for 2016 is currently running a little ahead of last year.
