ROCKFORD, Mich. — A former student student at Rockford High School has been sentenced after being charged with taking secret pictures and videos of his classmates disrobing.
An investigation began back in March when the Kent County Sheriff’s Department was notified that a student at Rockford High School may secretly be recording other students disrobing on school grounds.
Daniel Joseph Rogers is alleged to have met with investigators and admitted that he was “taking images/ videos using his Apple Ipad Mini… placing the device on the bathroom floor in (the) boy’s bathrooms, gym locker rooms, and (the) pool locker room.”
Police and school officials say that two of the boys captured on the device were underage.
Rogers was sentenced in Kent County Circuit Court Wednesday on two felony charges; ‘Capturing/Distributing Image of Unclothed Person’ and ‘Possession of Child Sexually Abusive Material’.
Judge George Buth sentenced the teen to two years of probation, 100 hours of community service and ordered him to pay into a victim’s fund.
The teen was originally facing four felony charges related to the incidents. In a plea deal with the Prosecutor’s office, he pleaded guilty to two of the charges, and in turn the other two were dropped.
