WEST MICHIGAN — The weather looks great to kick-off the long holiday weekend today with high pressure in control of our weather. There are some high level cirrus clouds streaming in from the west, which will temporarily dim our sunshine a little bit, but skies are expected to become mostly sunny through the afternoon. Here’s a look at the latest satellite/radar image as of this writing:

The high level clouds are streaming in from a developing system out in the Plains, and you can see the rain associated with this system in Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa. Low pressure is developing in western Kansas as of this writing, and will move eastward through the day tomorrow:

The leading edge of the rain with this system will make it’s way into neighboring states to our south, but we’re confident we’ll stay dry in West Michigan. On the 4th of July, this low will continue to slowly trek eastward:

As of now, it looks like the rain with this area of low pressure will mainly stay to our south. Some of our communities close to the Indiana state line — such as Three Rivers and Benton Harbor — could see some light rain. We’ll keep an eye on this system over the next couple of days and let you know if anything changes.
