ALGOMA TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The driver of a Jeep has been hospitalized with internal injuries after he ran a stop sign, crashed into a pickup truck, and was thrown from his vehicle, police say.

The crash happened Tuesday at around 4:20 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Pine Island Drive and 14 Mile in Algoma Township.

Police say a Jeep driven by a 55-year-old man from Grand Rapids failed to stop at the stop sign and was struck by a Ford pickup.

The driver of the Jeep was ejected during the crash. He was taken to the hospital with internal injuries. His condition is not known at this time. There were no injuries reported in the pickup truck.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
