HOLLAND, Mich. (AP) — The city of Holland is getting a $1 million boost to its $15.1 million Civic Center overhaul plan.

Mayor Nancy DeBoer says Dick Haworth and Holland-based office furniture maker Haworth Inc. will donate $500,000 in cash and $500,000 in furniture and design for the project. The Holland Sentinel reports DeBoer announced the donation during Wednesday’s City Council meeting.

DeBoer says the city has been fundraising for the Civic Center project in recent months, approaching multiple donors in the community. The newspaper says possible additions to the project including a demonstration kitchen and Tulip Time offices could increase the overall price tag.

Jim Heeringa and his wife, Eileen, earlier announced they were donating $2 million to the project in honor of his parents, George and Lucile Heeringa.
