WEST MICHIGAN — The National Weather Service is warning of possible dangerous conditions along lakeshore beaches this weekend.

High waves and strong currents are expected Friday evening through Saturday evening from beaches along St. Joseph to Manistee.

North Beach in South Haven, Holland State Park, Muskegon State Park, Mears State Park in Pentwater and Stearns Park in Ludington are included in the statement.

The National Weather Service urges beach goers to stay out of the water due to the strong currents. The conditions along the lakeshore will likely be dangerous and officials have issued a high swim risk for many parts of West Michigan. The National Weather Service warns the strong current could push swimmers into deeper water and make it difficult for them to return to shore.
