WEST MICHIGAN — A few scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible through the late afternoon and evening hours as a cold front drops a little closer to the area. The lake breeze (a wind generated from Lake Michigan) may also contribute to the formation of some shower and thunderstorm activity.
While we generally don’t anticipate widespread severe weather, some of these storm cells may pulse up to severe levels with some gusty winds of 50 to 60 mph and some one inch hail being the primary threats.
The image attached to this story is from the Storm Prediction Center. Their forecast discussion specifically addresses Michigan, but states that “a watch is unlikely”. That said, they too, will continue to monitor the storm trend. I would suggest concert goers at Meijer Gardens this evening keep an umbrella handy as a passing heavy rain shower or thunderstorm remains possible through the evening hours.
