IONIA COUNTY, Mich. — A man is dead after police say he ran a stop sign and collided with a semi trailer on Monday evening in Ionia County.

It happened shortly after 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of M-66 and Grand River Avenue.  Police say a 63-year-old man from Portland failed to stop at the stop sign, and crashed into a semi trailer.  His vehicle became wedged underneath as a result of the impact. The victim did not survive.

Police say alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in this crash.
