BROWNSTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Police say a car fleeing officers crashed into three vehicles in suburban Detroit, killing a 27-year-old driver who was among those hit and injuring several others.

State police say the car with male driver and a female passenger collided with the others Tuesday evening in Wayne County’s Brownstown Township after trying to escape police in Woodhaven. Police say they were wanted for retail fraud and parole violations.

Police say patrol cars with lights and sirens operating had fallen back before the crash. The two people from the car that fled police were taken into custody.

Other injuries to those hurt during the crash were described by police as non-life threatening. Authorities are investigating.
