Michigan State Trooper struck by alleged drunk driver on highway

DETROIT, Mich. — A Michigan State Trooper had a close call when she was struck by a drunk driver in Metro Detroit on Friday morning.

A 29-year veteran of the Metro North Post, Trooper Jacalyn Raab, was on MDOT protection detail, protecting construction workers from traffic hazards, on I-75 Friday morning,  when her patrol vehicle was struck from behind.

A male driver struck the patrol vehicle, causing major damage to the back of the patrol vehicle. Raab was sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries including a broken wrist and head and neck pain. She remains in the hospital.

Police say that the driver appeared to have been drunk. There is no word on his condition. He is being processed and will be lodged in the Oakland County Jail.
