WEST MICHIGAN- Some of us woke up to rumbles of thunder this morning as many areas got drenched with nearly an inch of rain in a three hour span.
Heavy rain and a few thunderstorms are going to be the main story from the first part of the weekend. This was a snapshot of the radar that delivered some heavy rain this morning. I know many of you in Kalamazoo and areas south of Allegan are wondering where your rain was.
Storms will be scattered by lunchtime Friday, with heavier bands developing once again. This will be another period where some areas are dry and maybe seeing a break or two in the clouds as well.
Heavier, more widespread rains develop by later on this evening and will cover more areas in West Michigan than the bands than moved through this morning.
With the high moisture content in the air (the reason it’s so unbearably humid,) expect heavy rainfall rates exceeding an inch per hour. Through early Saturday, I wouldn’t be surprised to see greater than 3 inches of rain in some locations.
