LITTLE SABLE POINT, Mich. — A man who drowned Sunday night while fishing on Lake Michigan has been identified.

The Oceana County Sheriff's Department says that Brian Waslusky, 53, of Hart, jumped into Lake Michigan after another man, who was attempting to retrieve a dropped fishing net.

The other man, Steve Bruce, 62, of Hart, remains missing.  The Coast Guard announced Monday they were suspending their search after nearly 17 hours of searching.

According to a release, the two men were fishing on Lake Michigan off Silver Lake when they were attempting to net a fish.  That's when Waslusky apparently dropped the net and Bruce jumped in after it.   Waslusky also jumped into the water, and the two men began to struggle, a third man who was on the boat told police.

The third man made it back to shore, according to a release.

Waslusky's body was found by a nearby boater, according to the Coast  Guard.
