NORTON SHORES, Mich. -- Police in Norton Shores are searching for two suspects following a deadly shooting late Monday night.

Officers were called to E. Sherman Boulevard just west of US-31 at around 10:00 p.m. on reports of a possible shooting inside a home. When they arrived, they found, Cody Bryan Laporte, 23, with a gunshot wound. Laporte did not survive.

A witness who was at the home at the time told police that two men had come to the house and were let inside by the man who lived there.  They all went to a back room, where there was a struggle.  Three gun shots rang out, and the witness ran from the home to call police.  The witness then saw the two men leaving the scene, running towards US-31.

A K-9 unit attempted to track the suspects, but it is believed they were able to get into a vehicle and drive away.

Police are now searching for two male suspects, described as 6'2" wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and jeans, and 5'7" wearing a blue shirt .  Anyone with information to assist in the investigation is asked to contact Norton Shores Police Department at 231-733-2691 or Silent Observer at 231-72-CRIME
